What changed this month
- Export proceeds: 9 months, from 1 October. RBI's new FEMA export and import rules took effect on 1 October. Goods must be realised within 9 months of shipment, services within 9 months of the invoice, and rupee-invoiced exports within 12 months. Read the alert →
- RoDTEP and RoSCTL continue to 31 December 2026, at the existing rates (DGFT Notification 41/2026-27).
- India–New Zealand FTA from 20 October. The government says it gives duty-free access for Indian exports to New Zealand. Check your product and the proof of origin you will need in the trade agreements checker.
- ECGC's country classification was revised from 1 October. See which countries moved on the ratings page.
- RBI policy on 7 October. The repo rate is 5.25%, and most economists polled expect a rise. If it rises, rupee packing credit costs more; the pre-shipment finance calculator will be updated after the announcement.
